According to TVLine, the official character description reads as, “Scientist Mark Stevens is a charismatic bad boy obsessed with cryogenic technology. But when he’s not breaking into corporate safes, he’s busy breaking hearts with his irresistible charm and roguish style. Armed with his own cold weapons, he’ll become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash as the DC Comics villain Chillblaine.”
The Flash ended abruptly because of the coronavirus. When we last saw Team Flash, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) were still separated. Iris is in the mirrorverse with Kamilla (Victoria Park) and Capt. Singh (Patrick Sabongui). And Mirror Master Eva McCulloch (Efrat Dor) has no plans of letting her go. Iris is adapting to the mirrorverse too well. It may be harder for her to get out than for Barry to run in and save her. Barry is also losing his speed after the speed force died last season. The odds are stacked against them, but the West-Allen family always finds a way to prevail.
Season six ended with three episodes left to film, so the whole ordeal should be over fast. Once Eva is dealt with, Team Flash will jump right into the next fight, but Chillblaine won’t be the only villain in season seven. At the end of season six, showrunner Eric Wallace told TVLine that we will see the Flash go toe-to-toe with Godspeed.
I don’t know much about Chillblaine, but he sounds very similar to a former chilling baddie turned legend, Captain Cold Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller). According to the DC Database, Chillblaine is closely associated with another Snart in the comic books. Lisa Snart, aka Golden Glider used her brother’s cold gun technology to give her boyfriends abilities to use on the Flash. The boyfriends used the supervillain name Chillblaine. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Lisa Snart (Peyton List), but there are no known plans for her return.
The Flash season 7 premieres on Tuesday, February 23.
