For those of us waiting for any new footage from the Joker movie, today is a good day. Revealed on his Instagram account, director Todd Phillips shared the first poster for the upcoming movie and it is creepy. Luckily for us, that’s not the only good news.

The poster is very minimal with Joaquin Phoenix‘ in his clown makeup, tilting his head back looking like he’s in a daze. In all honestly it looked like Cameron Monaghan‘s Joker from the Gotham TV series at a quick glance. The poster also features the tagline “Put on a happy face” which gives off some very creepy vibes, given Phoenix’s face. Also it’s unclear whether there’s blood on his face or just some leftover paint, adding to the unpleasant feelings. The poster also confirms that the film name will be as simplistic as the poster – Joker – and it’s coming out on October 4th of this year.

The best part? Phillips revealed that the first teaser trailer will debut tomorrow. What kind of footage will it show? No idea but we don’t have to wait long to find that out! I’m most looking forward to hearing the laugh (if they reveal it in any of the footage) and to see a glimpse of his mannerisms. Those are two features I like to see in Joker portrayals. Here’s hoping that Phoenix can bring a unique take that doesn’t stray too far from the character.

Check out the poster below and let us know what you think. Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC movie news.
