JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 Executes a Release Date

John Wick is storming back. According to Variety, the third installment in the explosive John Wick franchise has a release date. Unfortunately for fans, they’re going to have to wait for some time before seeing his next fight for survival.

Lionsgate announced that May 17th, 2019, would be the day fans could see John Wick: Chapter 3. After the events of the second film, John is on the run and seemingly on his own. He’s excommunicated from The Continental with all assassins after him. Will this be the final chapter for John Wick? Or will it be a bloody mess all the way to the 4th chapter? We’ll have to find out.

Since becoming a massive hit, it’s no wonder the company continues to churn out installments. It even seemed to inspire the release of Atomic Blonde, a spy thriller set in the 1980s. Its gritty violence, inventive choreography and action-focused story have made people come back for more. Not to mention, it’s launched Keanu Reeves as an action star again. And who doesn’t want to see that?

Reeves told EW that he would love to return to the series back in February. Grateful for the success of the first film, he was instantly eager to jump into a suit once more.

I love the character and the world. Whether or not I get the chance to do another chapter is really up to the audience. If they enjoy what we did — and hopefully they do, fingers-crossed, I really dig it — but if they do enjoy it, then I’ll have the chance to continue the story of the character and the world.

Well, the audience did love it, with a whopping $171.5 million box office for the second installment. So lucky for both us and Reeves, we get to see guns blazing again.
