In an interview with IGN, TV producer John Ridley, creator of ABC’s critically-acclaimed series, American Crime, assured all of us that his project with Marvel Television is, in fact, still moving forward.
As he said at the TCA Winter Press Event, “The Marvel project is still very much alive.” IGN then goes on to say that Ridley is “looking to bring some of the socially conscious nature of American Crime… to his Marvel project.” But he also wants to make something that is “straight entertainment.”
He then went on to praise the social consciousness of Netflix’s latest Marvel series, Jessica Jones, saying “I would just say I hope that I would bring an appropriate amount of reflective sensibility to whatever project I may or may not be involved with in the Marvel universe. But I do want it to be entertaining in its own right.”
