“No matter how dark it gets, there’s always good in the world.” ~Some Good News
John Krasinski said farewell, for now, in last night’s Some Good News episode. This marked the eighth episode for the series which immediately went viral upon its premiere. It seems so long ago when Krasinski first set out to bring hope and catharsis to folks while the world was help captive by the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it was with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Oprah, Steven Spielberg, Malala, or The Office cast, Krasinski delivered every single time. This week was no exception.
Beginning this week was a fantastic and creative animated opening sequence from @cartunaradio. This led seamlessly to Krasinski talking about the amazing fan art that has been sent his way. He announced a merchandise store, Some Good Merch that will feature many of the fan art pieces from Some Good News. The artists and the show have agreed that 100% of a purchase will go to a charity of the buyer’s choice and Starbucks will match the first $1 million.

After an incredibly moving sequence on hope, Krasinski talks about what Some Good News has meant to him and features videos from families and fans who have made SGN their own. It’s really cool. Then he introduces a segment where fans read the news. Just you wait until you see Austin Perine do the sports. I mean, come on. The cuteness. There’s also bloopers! In this age of Zoom, there are so many technical difficulties and it’s nice to see other folks are having as hard a time as I do. Catharsis indeed.
In the final segment, “What This Show Means,” Krasinski gets emotional talking about what an honor it was for him to put this show together. It’s quite lovely. He then shows the best moments from the last seven episodes. He also says what we were hoping to hear. Some Good News will be back. Grab the tissues you’ll need them.
Thanks, John Krasinski for easing our emotional load over these last eight weeks.
Some Good News has always been… about YOU! SGN wants to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this story. For sending in your clips, weather reports, and art. For watching, laughing, crying, dancing, and celebrating with us. There IS always GOOD in the world! Now it’s time for everyone to continue to spread good news in their own ways. We’re taking a break for now, but there is more to come! Stay tuned.
