The cast for the Suicide Squad 2 continues to grow, according to Variety. Part time wrestler and actor John Cena is currently being eyed for a role in the sequel being written and directed by James Gunn. Things are starting to get really interesting.
Cena would join Idris Elba and Margot Robbie in the soft reboot film. The cast also apparently has Jai Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, so it’s unclear how the film will tie into the previous one. Unfortunately we do not know which character Cena is in talks for but it would mark his first foray into comic book films. Possibilities for characters he could play include King Shark, Captain Cold, Sportsmaster, and Solomon Grundy.
The casting is very interesting and honestly, I dig it. I’m crossing my fingers he’s playing King Shark (even though sharks scare me) or Sportsmaster. Both of them are equally insane for different reasons and Gunn could have a whole lot of fun with it. He made Rocket and Groot work, he can make King Shark work even better than The Flash series. We won’t have to wait long to find out since production starts up in fall of this year.
What do you think of the potential casting? Are you on board or can you not see him? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC movie news. Suicide Squad 2 will blast onto screens on August 6th, 2021.
