The Return of Yellowjackets
Joel McHale is joining the cast of Yellowjackets in a Season 3 guest role, Deadline reported this week. Read on to find out what else we know about the upcoming season.

There isn’t a premiere date yet for the new season of Yellowjackets, but new episodes are currently in production. Season 1 aired in 2021, with Season 2 following in 2023. The series follows a talented high school girls’ soccer team that survives a plane crash deep in the wilderness. Viewers follow their journey from a thriving team into a monstrosity. 25 years later, the survivors piece together what really happened.
Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher and Liv Hewson are expected to return for Season 3. As for the adult cast, we should see Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci and Lauren Ambrose as well. Yellowjackets has received 10 Emmy Awards so far, including two for Lynskey for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama.

Joel’s Role
So far, there isn’t any information available about McHale’s role. He currently executive produces and stars in Fox’s sitcom Animal Control, along with another guest appearance in Season 3 of The Bear. He’s also set to reprise his role as Jeff Winger in the upcoming Community movie.
The official Yellowjackets Instagram account announced the casting news with a cryptic video reel. The video features a smiling McHale interspersed with clips of the woods, deer, a pendant and a Queen of Hearts card covered in blood, among other images.
