Thanks to Batman-News, we’re now all questioning whether Joe Manganiello is playing Deathstroke. With the writing shake-up, the fate of Deathstroke is uncertain – even to the actor himself. The Batman film continues to be all over the place.

In an interview with Pittsburgh Today Live where he was promoting Smurfs, the hosts asked about Deathstroke. Manganiello has been vocal about his support and excitement about the role since being cast. So his answer of “Umm. Maybe. We’ll see” was instantly concerning. We heard rumor that the script may be completely rewritten and Manganiello’s response gives that rumor almost certainty. It may be because he read the rumor as we all did. Or he was given a head’s up by the studio or Affleck himself. Since he didn’t say anything more and the hosts didn’t care to know anymore, we’re currently left in the dark.

It would be an absolute shame to see Deathstroke written out. His enthusiasm for the role and film has been obvious. He even tried to quiet rumors when the seams were starting to come undone on production back in November. We’re not sure if Matt Reeves is taking over control of the story and has a part to play in the fate of Deathstroke or not. Time will only tell with this news, unfortunately.
