Warning: This announcement contains spoilers for the first season of Netflix’s original series YOU.
Set your accounts to private. Joe’s back.
That’s right! Netflix viewers will once again get a look into the mind of a psychopath with the return of its most compelling stalker, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley). Inspired by Caroline Kepnes‘ follow up novel to You, entitled Hidden Bodies, this season sees Joe leaving behind his cozy New York life for a clean slate in Los Angeles.
In a new city with a new job and going under a new name, Will Bettleheim, Joe falls into some old habits when he sets his eyes and obsession on aspiring chef, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti). But he quickly learns that starting fresh is hard to do when your past is close behind.

Now, for those who have read Hidden Bodies, you’ll quickly notice quite a few changes have been made. Much like the case of 13 Reasons Why, it looks like the script is being totally steered away from the novel’s original plot. For example Candace (Ambyr Childers) making an appearance in this season is shocking because she was supposed to be dead long before Joe met Beck (Elizabeth Lail) back in the first season.
While we’re on the fence about these changes, we’re still very eager to see how this new season plays out. Check out the chilling trailer below!
You returns for its second season on December 26th!
