More talented folks are boarding the TARDIS for Doctor Who‘s highly anticipated 14th season. We learned on Monday that multi-hyphenate Jinkx Monsoon is poised to get wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey on the long-running sci-fi series. The actress, singer and two-time winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race will appear in a significant role.

Monsoon was crowned “Queen of Queens” during her tenure on Drag Race, where she also went on to win big for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. She recently made her Broadway debut as Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago. She’s the first drag queen to play the role.

Here’s what showrunner Russell T Davies had to say regarding Monsoon’s addition, per DoctorWho.tv:

“In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and Doctor Who will never be the same again!”

Monsoon gushed about her role for the upcoming season:

“I’m honoured, thrilled, and utterly excited to join Doctor Who! Russell T Davies is a visionary and a brilliant writer— I can’t wait to get into the weeds with him and the crew! I hope there’s room in the TARDIS for my luggage.”

On the Doctor Who news front, the series will return in November 2023 for the show’s 60th anniversary with three new episodes. David Tennant shoulders the Time Lord mantle as the Fourteenth Doctor, with Catherine Tate reprising her role as Donna Noble.

Yasmin Finney plays Rose Temple-Noble, with Karl Collins returning as Shaun Temple and the late Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. Neil Patrick Harris will portray the Doctor’s adversary for the special. Then, Tennant will pass the TARDIS keys to Ncuti Gatwa, who will play the Fifteenth Doctor in Season 14. The 14th season is expected to air sometime in 2024.
