Writer/Director Evan Spiliotopoulos is adapting the James Herbert horror novel, Shrine, for the big screen.  And, The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to play the lead.  Screen Gems will make the film with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing.  That’s some horror cred!

Shrine is a supernatural horror centered around demonic possession, mass hysteria and religious miracles.  Those miracles make journalist Gerry Fenn’s career, but they are not what they seem and their dark origins come to light around a little girl and a tree.  Dig it!  We’re excited!  Herbert’s book starts every chapter with a literary quote from folklore and switches points of view throughout, so we’re interested to see what angles the movie will take on.  Will Morgan’s character be the only lens through which we see?

Shrine will begin filming in early 2020.  The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.  Keep your eyes open and your souls protected.
