Here we are, ladies and gentlemen: 2019! A brand new year full of video game promise. 2018 was an incredible year for gaming. Will 2019 hold up? Or perhaps be an even better year for gaming? What can we expect at E3 2019? We’ll just have to find out throughout the year, but what we do know is that January is already packed with some exciting releases. Here’s a look at our most anticipated releases coming out this January!

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Grab your controller and take to the skies! The seventh installment of Bandai Namco‘s Ace Combat series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, hits consoles and VR this month! In this title, you play as a disgraced pilot accused of murdering a former president. Now, during the Second Usean Continental War, you are sent to a penal military unit to not only re-earn your rankings but prove your innocence as well. Moreover, Ace Combat 7 is the first Ace Combat game to be featured in Unreal Engine 4. Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, the last big game in the series, came out in 2007. Over these past 10 years, there have been numerous graphics and engine improvements to the series. You may be wondering why I mentioned VR earlier. That is because there are several unique missions available for PSVR players. And for those looking for to play against others, two-person local multiplayer is featured in the game as well. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown comes out for the PS4 and Xbox One on January 18th (and for the PC on February 1st).
Resident Evil 2
It’s time to return to Raccoon City with Leon and Claire in the remake of Capcom‘s Resident Evil 2. For nostalgic fans and new players, this is the perfect tiime to play one of the greatest Resident Evil games in the series. And this remake is not just packed with cleaner and crisper graphics, we getting to see our favorite Resident Evil 2 moments remastered, but also from a different point of view. In this title, players will get an over-the-shoulder third person view of the game (as introduced in Resident Evil 4). So prepare to be terrified in a whole new way! Likewise, because of this new gameplay style, the zombies and sound design have been completely redesigned as well, in order to achieve the most optimal horror possible. Ready your inventory, it’s time to escape the horrors of the T-Virus! Resident Evil 2 will be available for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One on January 25th.
Kingdom Hearts 3
Arguably, Kingdom Hearts 3 is the MOST Anticipated game of Quarter 1. From being announced back in 2013, fans of Kingdom Hearts have been anxiously awaiting this release. Finally, after several push backs, we’re finally getting it this year! Kingdom Hearts 3 marks the conclusion of the series. The summation of ALL Kingdom Hearts titles. Together, Sora, Donald, and Goofy must finally defeat Master Xehanort once and for all. And what is Kingdom Hearts without new and exciting Disney worlds to travel to? Prepare to fight alongside Buzz and Woody, save San Fransokyo, travel back to Destiny Islands, and much more! The pairing of Disney and Square Enix characters in a battle-filled adventure is what makes this game a favorite for many. If you are a casual fan of the Kingdom Hearts series or are confused by the storyline and other games, there are a number of helpful storyline videos you can watch. OR you can purchase the Kingdom Hearts All-In-One Package which provides you with a PS4 remaster of every single Kingdom Hearts game so far (even the Nintendo DS and PSP games). The package also comes with a pre-order of Kingdom Hearts 3! However, if that full package isn’t for you, you can pick up a standard copy of Kingdom Hearts 3 for the PS4 or Xbox One on January 29th.

We’ve got a number of exciting titles to kick off January 2019. So if you’re like me, and JUST got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Holidays, you better finish it quickly!
