The Hollywood Reporter shared exclusive casting news today for Spider-Man 3. According to THR, Jamie Foxx is set to return to the franchise as Electro. He first appeared as the villain in Andrew Garfield‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This time he will be joining Tom Holland in the new MCU series. Foxx is still in talks to reprise the role, and Marvel and Sony have yet to make a comment.

This could mean a few different things for Spider-Man 3. But the theory I am clinging to the most is that this installment will feature some kind of dive into the multiverse. We just watched as the Avengers jumped through different universes to collect the infinity stones, so why can’t Spider-Man? This could even mean that we are going to get a chance to see previous Spideys like Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
Spider-Man 3‘s story is still very hush hush, but we do know that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will be producing the project. It is also rumored that Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori will be reprising their roles as well. Spider-Man 3 is set to release on November 5, 2021.
