Who’s Gonna Find Baby Kal-El?
We have a new Pa Kent, the Kansas farmer and adopted father of baby Kal-El, aka Clark Kent aka Superman. Actor Pruitt Taylor Vince will pull on the jeans and, we presume, the flannel shirt of the comic’s most famous in James Gunn’s Superman, according to Deadline.
A versatile character actor, Pruitt Taylor Vince is a veteran of the big and small screen with a long list of roles ranging from Natural Born Killers and Birdbox to Deadwood, Agents of SHIELD, and Stranger Things. He can currently be seen opposite Natalie Portman in The Lady In The Lake on Apple TV+.
So Many Pa Kents
There are a lot of famous parents in comic books, but none more so than Jonathan Kent, the plain-spoken and imminently decent Kansas farmer who finds baby Kal-El in his field and raises him as his son. The role has previously been played by Kevin Costner in 2003’s Man of Steel, Glenn Ford in 1978’s Superman: The Movie and on TV by John Schneider in Smallville.
Taylor Vince joins the growing cast of James Gunn’s Superman which has just begun production. The film is the opening film of Gunn’s reboot of the entire DC universe which is collectively called “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters”.

Gunn’s Superman Cast
The Superman cast also includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and newcomers like David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel. As well as Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Additionally, Skyler Gisondo joined the cast as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher. Wendell Pierce recently joined the cast as Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief Perry White.
