Tal M. Klein is getting a lot of attention for his debut novel, The Punch Escrow. Inkshares is releasing the book via its Geek & Sundry imprint on July 25th, and the film rights were obtained by Lionsgate in April. Now, the film version of the much sought after book has a director. James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) will be in charge. Variety reported, Friday.

The Punch Escrow‘s universe is one that is distinctly and uniquely creative. It’s beautiful and gross. It’s shiny and dirty. It’s funny and sad. Klein’s novel will need an imaginative director. Based on the credits above… and perhaps the most important credit, that he was one of the creators of the TV series The Flight of the Conchords… Bobin seems like he’s uniquely suited for the job. He’s got the potential for the sense of humor and the aesthetic that this movie needs. I loved those Muppet movies. Loved. Them.
Not many other details are known about the film. No dates have been announced. The world of Joel Byram is in good hands. More to come.
