J.J. Abrams returns to HBO! According to THR, the new sci-fi series Demimonde by Abrams has found a home at HBO after a bidding war with Apple. The production will be the first show he’s penned for the network since the 2008’s Fringe. And Abrams is all in on this series, penning the script and executive producing. It’s currently unknown if he’ll be directing any episodes as well but this is exciting!

So what exactly is the show about? Well we got a bit of a description thanks to THR. And guys – it sounds really cool.

[The] drama is about a family — consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter — who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and winds up being transported to another world amid a battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world. HBO is only describing the series as “an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama.

We don’t know if the monstrous force consists of actual monsters, but consider my fancy tickled. I’m also curious about whether or not they will enter other worlds or just the one that’s being oppressed. I just have so many questions! Lately, I’ve been trying to get into more sci-fi shows so this may be something I could pick up. And we all know how well Abrams shows turn out (like Lost) – they’re really good. So be on the lookout for this one guys!
