The Gifted season two premiere is upon us and the mutants couldn’t be more divided. The season premiere picks up six months after the end of season one. There are two mutant groups that are essentially fighting for the same cause, but have different styles of fighting. Where one seeks a peaceful resolution, the other is willing to force change by any means necessary.
In the newest trailer for season two, we get a old school, comic book style trailer that shows who’s on who’s side. In case you forgot, here’s a quick recap of season one. Reed (Stephen Moyer) and Caitlin (Amy Acker) Strucker discovered their kids Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Haynes White) have mutant powers. The Struckers are forced to go into hiding when Sentinel Services threatened to take the kids away. The Mutant Underground helped them and the Struckers were thrown into the fight for a peaceful human and mutant existence, like the X-Men.
The MU was infiltrated by the Frost triplets (Skyler Samuels) from the Hellfire Club, now the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle are a group of mutants who are also fighting for mutant rights, but are ruthless in their approach. By the end of season one, some members of the MU agreed with the Inner Circle’s course of action and left to join their fight…including Andy Strucker.

The Mutant Underground
The MU hasn’t changed much. Led by John Proudstar/Thunderbird (Blair Redford), their mission remains the same, for the most part. They want to find a peaceful, coexistence with humans. At the same time, most of them are on the run. Sentinel Services has been aware of the MU for some time now and the MU leaders are number one on the most wanted list. John is joined by Marcos Diaz/Eclipse (Sean Teale), Clarice Fong/Blink (Jamie Chung), the Struckers, Reed, Caitlin and Laurn, and many more.
The Inner Circle
Led by Reeva Payge (Grace Byers), the Inner Circle is working for a Mutant Nation. Reeva has declared that anyone who opposes her or tries to leave the Inner Circle must die. This could be a problem. Lorna Dane/Polaris (Emma Dumont) and Andy Strucker are among Reeva’s supporters for now, but they both have strong ties to the Mutant Underground. Andy’s family remains with the MU. And Polaris is having Eclipse’s baby. How’s that for complicated?
Looks as if the baby is coming sooner than later in the season. And the kid is powerful…maybe more powerful than Polaris. Another big change is Andy’s new look. The bleach blonde has a more mature and sinister look this season.

Sentinel Services
Both the Mutant Underground and the Inner Circle have a common enemy, Sentinel Services. Led by Agent Jace Turner (Coby Bell) last season, Sentinel Services took a dangerous turn, collaborating with a curious scientist. This scientist drugged mutants to control them and used them against other mutants. He also studied Andy and Lauren Strucker’s combined power to create a device to use in the war. Did the government create the device? Agent Turner’s mission doesn’t seem to have changed. But now he has two groups to deal with and that will be more dangerous for him and his human team.
Be on the lookout for two more factions this season. The Morlocks, a really under ground group of mutants, and the Purifiers, a human activist group our to rid the world of mutants.
Watch the new trailer below.
The Mutant Underground rescues a girl from a Sentinel raid, but fails to save her family; Eclipse and Caitlin get info on the Inner Circle with help from a criminal hacker; Polaris prepares for her baby’s birth.
