It’s official! We had the rumors that Rachel McAdams was in talks to join Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange, and now we have confirmation from the actress herself, via Jeff Sneider, at The Wrap. This has all gone down at the Toronto International Film Festival.

While we have confirmation that the actress will appear in the film, it’s still not certain who she’ll play. The obvious choice is that she’ll be Doctor Strange’s girlfriend, Clea, who is the niece of Dormammu, daughter to Umar, all three of whom have been leaders of the Dark Dimension. In her first appearance, she remained nameless and was held captive by Dormammu until Doctor Strange could save her.
She could, however, also be Linda Carter, the Night Nurse that appeared in Brian K. Vaughan’s The Oath, as she’s also been rumored to appear in this film based on her not being available for the Netflix series, Daredevil, to use. Rosario Dawson has portrayed Claire Temple, another Night Nurse that has worked contemporaneously with Linda Carter.
