Season 3 of the Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller Invasion has been confirmed, with production set to begin later this month. The series’ renewal comes after a Season 2 cliffhanger that practically demanded additional episodes for any semblance of completion. The character-driven series follows perspectives across the world as it faces an alien invasion.
The series helped put Apple TV+ on the map in the science fiction genre. It was one of its six programs part of the streaming services’ comic-con debut in 2022. Now, familiar faces are returning to the cast and crew for this season, with production beginning later this month.

Cast and Crew
Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg is at the helm of Invasion. His extensive resume includes success in the X-Men films, Deadpool films, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Martian and Sherlock Holmes.
“I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to do with our first two seasons of the show with our partners at Apple TV+ and our cast and crew,” Kinberg said in a press release. “This new season will continue to build on the scale, stakes, and propulsion of the Invasion while keeping our characters front and center, bringing them together in ways that will hopefully surprise and, most importantly, move our audience, who have been so incredibly supportive and inspiring since day one.”

Numerous actors from the first season of Invasion, which debuted in 2021, are returning for its upcoming season. These include Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Billy Barratt, Azhy Robertson, Paddy Holland and Tara Moayedi. Season 2 brought in a handful of new regulars, including Enver Gjokaj, Nedra Marie Taylor and Naian González Norvind.
Kinberg has been on this project, produced by Apple TV+ by Boat Rocker, since the beginning. He is a creator alongside David Weil, known for the Amazon Prime series Hunters (one of GGA’s favorite TV shows of 2023). Both serve as executive producers on the series, including Audrey Chon, David Witz, Alik Sakharov, Andrew Baldwin, Dan Dietz and Katie O’Connell Marsh.
On behalf of Boat Rocker, Nick Nantell serves as executive producer.

What Season 3 (and the Future) Holds
Season 2 of Invasion began just months after Season 1 left off, as the aliens escalated their attacks into an all-out war on Earth. While the show’s first season was a relatively slow-burn story, its following season had more action. Kinberg told Slashfilm that his hope is for Season 3 to be “like the back half of the second act of a movie where now the action is really accelerated, and the challenges are massive and seem insurmountable.”
In an ideal world, Invasion will have four seasons, he also told Slashfilm. The final season would be “the third act of just final conflict.” Beyond this, few details have emerged about the upcoming season of Invasion. However, the ending of Season 2 was a major cliffhanger. It looks like fans will learn more about the origin of the invaders.
