Yes.

You read that correctly. Actor Iwan Rheon who played the Game of Thrones bastard Ramsey Bolton, easily one of the worst, most despicable, vile and manipulative villains ever on TV has been tapped to portray Maximus the Mad on the upcoming Marvel series, The Inhumans, for ABC.

The Hollywood Reporter describes his character as “a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.” Maximus is one of the most intelligent characters in Marvel’s mythology and is, in fact, so intelligent that he’s gone mad. It’s as if he’s seen the Matrix and the knowledge drove him insane. He’s very similar to the Master in Doctor Who, who looked through time and heard the drums.

And just who is his brother? King Blackbolt is the stoic, silent leader of the royal city of Attilan who can level entire buildings with just a whisper of his voice. He’s arguably one of the more powerful characters Marvel possesses.

Marvel Television Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb said of their casting, “Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all different sides we needed to bring the character to life.” Series showrunner Scott Buck, who’s finishing up Iron Fist now and previously worked on Dexter, said of him, “Maximus is a complex character. Likeable, charming and villainous all in the same moment.”

As for our thoughts — this is pretty much perfect casting and has us even more excited about the film/series.
