Even MORE Inhumans casting news! Serinda Swan has been cast as Queen Medusa, the object of affection for both Black Bolt and Maximus the Mad. According to Deadline, she’s the third to be added to the cast in the ABC television adaption. It’s set to premiere in September with 8 episodes.

Swan is best known for her roles in Breakout Kings for 2 seasons and Graceland for it’s run. She’s also had reoccuring roles in Hawaii Five-O and and Chicago Fire. Don’t worry, she has some geek cred. She played Zatanna Zatara on Smallville and played a Goddess, Veritas, in Supernatural. She also played another Goddess, Aphrodite, in the live action adaption of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and played a minor part in Tron: Legacy.

Now just who is Medusa? Queen Medusa is a part of the royal family of Inhumans, a species of prehistoric earthlings mutated by the Terrigen Mists produced deep under the Inhuman city-state of Attilan. She is the distant cousin of Black Bolt, with whom she fell in love and they were wed. Her superpower is actually her hair! Every strand of her hair has greater tensile strength and elasticity. She’s able to control her hair with psychokinetic powers, including doubling it’s length and the ability to lift a ton. Quite some hair! In the show she’s described as being Black Bolt’s most trusted adviser, a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.

Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television said the following of Swan’s casting.

Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.

Excutive producer Scott Buck also added his comments about her casting.

Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.
