I’m really digging the marketing campaign for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. Well done, creative thinkers!
First, we found out about the Panem government website called Capitol TV which spews wonderful pro-Panem propaganda like President Snow’s first address where he tells the people of Panem that they are all part of the same functioning body and the Capitol is the body’s “beating heart,” and “if you fight against it, it is you who will bleed.” At the end of the address we see poor brainwashed Peeta.
Then we had the District Heroes campaign where we saw how happy workers in the 12 districts are. We see workers all dolled up and handsome in beautiful posed pictures. Well played Capitol.
And finally from Capitol TV, we get President Snow’s second address. This one didn’t go so well because the Rebels broke through the feed! GAH!!
So now the marketing campaign turns toward Panem’s opposition, which is who we are rooting for. We finally meet those revolutionaries holed up in District 13.
