On May 22nd, the Thai military seized control of the government. After the coup, rules were put into effect including a nationwide curfew, a ban on small gatherings and a shut down of certain media organizations.

Activists gathered in Bangkok on Sunday and used the three-finger gesture of solidarity that is portrayed in the Hunger Games films and books. The Hollywood Reporter printed this tweet which I then found on twitter.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

Flash mobs in Bangkok are deploying the film’s three-fingered salute as an act of defiance, and the military junta says it will arrest those in large groups who ignore warnings to lower their arms.

As we know, the  salute does represent defiance and resistance in the Hunger Games. Will the Thai military government actually arrest folks that use the Katniss Everdeen salute? Scary stuff.
