It’s hard to say who’s more afraid of whom on Humans. The humans grow more violent against all Synths and any human who protects them. And the Synths are beginning to turn on each other just to survive. Laura Hawkins (Katherine Parkinson) has been working with the Dryden Commission to determine what rights, if any, the Synths have. Max (Ivano Jeremiah) and Laura have come up with a plan to meet so the Dryden Commission can see just how the synths are living.

Max
Before Day Zero, Agnes (Holly Earl) was performer. She mostly performed for children, but they didn’t like her very much. Her owner had put her away in a box when Day Zero happened. When Agnes woke up, the owner heard her calling out to him. He was scared and left her boxed up. This is part of the reason she doesn’t trust humans.
Max understands, but he cannot allow her to roam free when the Dryden Commission shows up. Agnes wants to talk to them to understand them. He asks her where she went the night before. She says she went looking for the synths that Max turned away. She lies and says she didn’t find anything. Max says he can’t trust her and locks her up in a small room.
The Dryden Commission visits the rail yard and Laura thanks everyone for agreeing to the visit. Max meets her when she steps off the bus. He asks that they leave their Orange eye synths outside the gate because the other synths would be offended. He says they can bring their armed guards. They would rather have the guns instead of any enslaved synths.
Max leads the commission around the rail yard inner workings. He says they’ve lost a lot of synths to do power loss. They are developing a device that runs on solar power. Lord Dryden (Matthew Marsh) asks if the device is functioning yet. Max says not yet and makes a joke that the British weather is unreliable. The members of the commission chuckle at his joke.
Synth Ferdinand (Will Payne) breaks away from the others and relieves the synth guarding Agnes. As soon as the guard leaves, Ferdinand opens the door to Agnes’ room.
The synths have a room where they study human mannerisms. They practice these mannerisms to see more real to humans. Neil (Mark Bonnar) tests one of the synths by smiling at him and asking what he is feeling. The synths says he is joyful on the surface, but he sees despair in Neil’s eyes. Neil is a little shaken by his comment.
Agnes casually catches up to the commission and seeks out Lord Dryden. She moves toward him and pulls out a knife. Anatole catches her before anyone notices. Max watches Anatole (Ukweli Roach) lead Agnes away from the Dryden group.
Before leaving the rail yard, Lord Dryden stops for the press. He shakes Max’s hand for the cameras. Dryden tells Laura that he was sceptical, but pleased with the visit

Leo says it’s not his place to insert himself in her life anymore. Leo goes upstairs and looks up stories about Mia. He comes across a news story that a boy was arrested for the consciousness code. His name is Vijay Chand and he’s only 17. Mattie gets upset that an arrest was made. She doesn’t want an innocent boy taking the blame for something she did. Leo tries to calm her down and leaves to make her some tea. She looks up the story and sees a picture of Vijay. This prompts her to grab her keys and run out the door. Leo chases after her and jumps in the car before she can drive away.
Leo tries to talk her out of turning herself into the authorities. He says Day Zero is actually his fault because he gave her the code. So he offers to turn himself in, but Mattie doesn’t want him to go to jail. Leo says he has an idea that will keep them all out of prison. He helps her encrypt a code that will lead the authorities to Mattie. He asks if this is really what she wants. She answers that it’s worth the risk if Vijay goes free.

Niska (Emily Berrington) continues her search for the rogue green eye synths. She was given an address of the bomber, but finds the place empty. Someone sneaks up behind her and is able to turn her off. When she wakes up, her motor functions have been disabled. A synth sits in front her her and says she’s unlike any other green eyed that he’s met before. He says she’s more dangerous than others because she’s not there to join the cause. Niska says she’s there to stop him from hurting others. He hurt her friend. The synth says her friend made a sacrifice. Niska reveals that her friend was human, so he calls her a traitor.
Niska wants to know why he bombed the bar. His only answer is that synths are the future because they are smarter. She asks about The Synth Who Sleeps. He says that is a fairy tale that caused them to to lose many friends. Niska reveals it’s the way she found him. The synth says he’s fortunate that she did. He plans to killing her, then pin the bombing on Niska. He threatens to kill her friend and Niska gets angry.
Niska is able to start moving her hands and stand up. The synth is shocked saying she shouldn’t have been able to override a command. Niska overpowers him and pushes him back on a table. She wants to know who his leader is, but he doesn’t know. He tells her that his people are everywhere and they do not fear death. Niska kills him.

While they are playing, he mentions his own children. Karen asks what happened with Laura. Joe shrugs it off, saying they just want different things now. She asks if he still loves Laura, but he says it’s complicated. Karen thought all humans needed was love, but it sounds like he’s putting his needs above Laura’s. She says she would never do that.

Agnes finally fesses up about where she went the night before. She says she found the synths that Max turned away. The battery packs that he gave them shorted out and killed the synths. Anges calls him a coward, blaming him for their deaths and the deaths of others. She starts naming them off and Max gets angry when she mentions Flash. He drags her outside to a cargo container.
