I can’t wait for Hulu‘s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Elisabeth Moss stars as Offred. She is one of the last fertile women in Gilead (formerly the good old USA) forced into sexual servitude for the common ‘good’.
Hulu released a 30 second first look earlier this month that gave us a good idea of the aesthetic of the new series. Now we get a few more images from a world we hope we never see off screen.

In this new teaser, the terrors of the every day life of Offred and the other handmaids like her is further revealed. Some of the images from the first teaser are still there. But there are glimpses at more, and it’s necessarily disturbing.
This includes our first look at Joseph Fiennes as the commander; Offred’s oppresser. It’s quite a departure for Fiennes, who so often plays characters much closer to his role in Shakespeare in Love. We’re used to loving him, who’s likability could play a chilling role in this series. Both Moss and Fiennes are acting juggernauts and, personally, I’m super excited to see them in this terrible situation together.
The Handmaid’s Tale premieres April 26th on Hulu.
