Hugh Howey’s dystopian novel, Wool is getting another shot at AMC. Previously, the property was in development as a film with Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox. For fans of the Silo series in which Wool is the first novel, this is great news. The storyline throughout the book series is rich and full of well-rounded characters. The books share a thoughtful look at all sides of human nature when facing extinction and survival. Taking all that into consideration, Wool would be best served in a television series rather than a two hour movie. I’m excited with this development to say the least!
LaToya Morgan is at the helm of the project at AMC. According to Variety, Morgan will write the pilot and serve as executive producer. Hugh Howey is attached as producer
Morgan’s credits include Into the Badlands, a fantastical dystopian series currently on AMC. If you like watching a moving graphic novel with great character development and incredible martial arts, you should definitely give Into the Badlands a try. Wool, however is more bleak so it will be fun to see what she does with the material. One thing’s for sure, I can’t wait!
The story of Wool takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth.[6] Humanity clings to survival in the Silo, a subterranean city extending one hundred forty-four storeys beneath the surface. The series initially follows the character of Holston, the sheriff of the Silo, with subsequent volumes focusing on the characters of Juliette, Jahns, and Marnes. An ongoing storyline of the series is the focus on the mystery behind the Silo and the secrets it holds. The Silo’s mystery is eventually revealed by the end of book five; books six through eight comprise a prequel to the series. Book nine pulls the storylines together. ~Wikipedia
