A First Look at HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2 Arrives Tomorrow

Highlights: 

  • HBO released two posters for House of the Dragon Season 2, featuring Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. 
  • A Season 2 first look is slated for Saturday, December 2, at CCXP (Brazil Comic Con). 
  • Season 2 will debut in Summer of 2024. 

Fire to Fire 

While we have to wait until summer for new episodes of House of the Dragon, winter is coming, and with it comes the first look at season 2. To tide fans over until tomorrow, HBO released a few new posters on the show’s official X/Twitter. Read on to find out what we know so far.

House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022, with the finale episode of season 1 airing in October of the same year. The show got rave reviews from both critics and audiences. The season 2 renewal announcement even came just two episodes in.

The Game of Thrones prequel takes place almost 200 years before the original, following the ancestors of familiar characters. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), the king’s first-born child and heir, fights for power against her childhood best friend turned stepmother Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke). While Alicent’s goal is to put her son on the throne, the families clash when Rhaenyra seeks her own power. Season 1 ended with catastrophic events that will change both families forever.

Blood to Blood 

Returning cast members for season 2 include D’Arcy and Cooke alongside Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint and Phia Saban, among others. Simon Russell Beale from Thor: Love and Thunder, Gayle Rankin of GLOW, Freddie Fox from Slow Horses and The Great and Abubakar Salim from Raised by Wolves also join in new supporting roles.

While we don’t know exactly what to expect from HBO tomorrow, the two new posters they released today are great. One features Rhaenyra and the phrase “Fire to Fire,” while the other has Alicent and the words “Blood to Blood.” Both posters include “Summer 2024” at the bottom.
