Fire and blood will rule us all soon enough. On Wednesday, HBO unveiled the premiere date for the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. But that’s not all — we have new cast images ripe for obsession!
The 10-episode fantasy epic will also stream on HBO Max. Author George R.R. Martin‘s Fire & Blood serves as the blueprint for this series, set 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones. We get a peek behind the curtain at a time when House Targaryen ruled Westeros with, you guessed it, fire and blood.
In addition, the show will chronicle the Targaryen civil war, “Dance of Dragons.”

HBO released three promotional images revealing the show’s premiere date. We see three eggs with three dragons sporting smoldering gazes. Each egg boasts a crack on a different side, with fire seemingly seeping out. The trick of the light makes you believe these eggs are varying colors, but they appear to be greenish-black in hue.
I think this represents the three dragonriders from when Aegon I Targaryen invaded Westeros with his two sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys (also his wives), on three dragons: Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes.
House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel and Rhys Ifans. Check out the promo photos below to get the premiere date!
