House of Cards is back!

Netflix released the official trailer for Season 5 and well, it’s uncomfortable to say the least.

In the past, The Underwoods were a lot more fun because House of Cards was a heightened version of politics gone wrong. Now, it’s playing more like a documentary than fictional thriller.

House of Cards has always been great at being at the forefront of keeping up with the temperature of the current political climate, but I don’t want it anymore. It’s too real. Just take a moment and read Frank Underwood’s monologue from the trailer:

The American people don’t know what’s best for them. I do. I know exactly what they need. They’re like little children, Claire. We have hold their sticky fingers and wipe their sticky mouths. Teach them right from wrong. Tell them what to think and how to feel and what to want. They even need help writing their wildest dreams. Crafting their worst fears. Lucky for them, they have me. They have you. Underwood 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036. One nation, Underwood.

Kevin Spacey stars as the cutthroat POTUS, Robin Wright as FLOTUS and my style icon. Also returning, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks and Joel Kinnaman.

Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese will take over as showrunners after creator, Beau Willimon’s departure.
