Hotel Transylvania is one of those animated films with enough draw to pull in the adults. The franchise is up to its fourth (and final) movie, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, and the first trailer dropped on Monday.
For those unfamiliar, Hotel Transylvania revolves around Dracula (Brian Hull) and his monster friends. Yes, Dracula the vampire. He has a daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez), who has fallen in love with a human named Johnny (Andy Samberg). The fact that Johnny is merely a human has been the main theme of tension throughout the previous films, but now, with the help of Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan), that may finally change.
“It’s like Freaky Friday, but on a Tuesday, though…”
The two-minute Hotel Transylvania: Transformania trailer brings the whole Drac Pack back! A celebration at the hotel wouldn’t be complete without Murray the Mummy (Keegan-Michael Key), Frankenstein (Kevin James), Griffin the Invisible Man (David Spade), Wayne the Werewolf (Steve Buscemi) and Blobby. It appears things don’t go well during the party (But when does it ever?) and Johnny laments to Mavis that he doesn’t feel like part of Dracula’s family. Enter Van Helsing!
Van Helsing suggests a special ray gun designed to turn monsters into humans that also has the power to turn humans into monsters. What could possibly go wrong with this? One stray, green, bouncing beam from the “Monsterfication Ray” later and the hotel once full of monsters is a little less … monstery.

If you haven’t yet discovered the magic, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania shows that even monsters are human at heart. For those that want to see the movie in theaters or take their own mini-monsters out to catch it, it premieres on July 23, 2021.
From Sony Pictures Entertainment:
Drac and the pack are back, like you’ve never seen them before in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Reunite with your favorite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s mysterious invention, the ‘Monsterfication Ray,’ goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster! In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers, and an exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late, and before they drive each other crazy. With help from Mavis and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.
For the final chapter of the Hotel Transylvania film series, franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as screenwriter and executive producer. Selena Gomez will also serve as executive producer, while reprising her role as Drac’s daughter, Mavis, alongside Andy Samberg, returning as Johnny. The film also features Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Brian Hull, Asher Blinkoff, Brad Abrell, Fran Drescher, Jim Gaffigan and Molly Shannon. Directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon, executive produced by Michelle Murdocca and produced by Alice Dewey Goldstone, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is coming to theaters July 23, 2021.
