Welcome to Tavern Talk Thursday! We are expanding! What started as a column dedicated to chatting with members of the TTRPG community is growing to talk about all things TTRPG and board games. We aim to continue sharing everything we love about the community and all the content within. So, consider this a little peek into our favorite worlds and creators as we explore everything we love.
The holidays are in full swing, making it a perfect time to enjoy quality game time with family and friends. To help celebrate the jolly season, we have a few holiday-inspired games to enjoy for ages young and old.

Holiday Respite
Our first holiday-themed game comes from Lucky Newt Games. Holiday Respite is a storytelling game that one or more people can play. The player rolls a six-sided die, which kicks off the story and allows everyone to continue building from there. It’s a great game to play as you and your guests are cozying up by a fire with a warm beverage and snack. The story possibilities are endless, and it’s exciting to see what you can come up with.
Players can learn more about Holiday Respite on the itch.io page.
Trouble at Santa’s Workshop
Our next game is Fari RPGs’ Trouble at Santa’s Workshop. The mini tabletop RPG is kid-friendly and puts players in the shoes of Santa’s helpers. The goal is to help prevent trouble happening in Santa’s workshop during the busiest time of year. It’s a great way to teach kids the fundamentals of TTRPGs while keeping them involved with simple yet rewarding mechanics. It’s festive, fun and a great way to share a parent’s love for TTRPGs with their kids.
Players can learn more about Trouble at Santa’s Workshop on the itch.io page.

Glories & Ghost Stories
Looking to add a bit of the spooky season to your holidays? TTRPGkids’ Glories & Ghost Stories is here to help. This system-agnostic adventure dives into the player’s past, present and future. It’s like mixing your character’s story with A Christmas Carol. This is a great one-shot adventure, but it also works in on-going ones. So DMs can spice up their current adventure with some holiday spooks.
Players can learn more about Glories & Ghost Stories on the itch.io page.
Dice the Halls!
Our final holiday-themed game on this Tavern Talk Thursday is Brad Zimmerman’s Dice the Halls! This Christmas-themed adventure uses the d12go rule set and is intended for kids. Of course, this doesn’t mean adults also can’t enjoy it. The game follows a group of Christmas creatures trying to find Santa at the North Pole before he misses his big delivery. It’s a fun adventure that teaches younger players the basics of the system while also allowing them the freedom to create their own stories.
Players can learn more about Dice the Halls! on the DriveThruRPG page.
