If you like mystery boxes and surprises then Square Enix has a deal for you.  The Holiday Surprise Box is making a return again this year and, like before, you pay the money without ever knowing what prizes you will receive.

The Holiday Surprise Box is on sale now at the Square Enix Store. You pay $9.99 now and, on December 20th at 4am PST, you find out what exactly you spent your hard earned money on.  After December 19th, the deal will no longer be available.  Roll the dice now and hope for a good return.  Luckily, the cost isn’t that high and the rewards are more than worth it.  This year the digital contents of the digital box will feature over $80 worth of games which will equal 7 PC downloads and a special Square Enix Store promotion bundle that will be redeemable in January (if they follow last year’s formula).

The 2015 Holiday Surprise Box contained the following:

  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
  • Thief
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • Life is Strange Episode 1
  • Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

And as well as the games, a selection of vouchers (valid January 6-31, 2016) for use in the Square Enix Store:

  • 20% off selected games*
  • 10% off Life is Strange episodes 2-5
  • 10% off Just Cause 3 (all editions)

As you can see, the cost is more than worth is when all is said and done.  My one wish is that Square Enix makes this deal available as digital downloads for consoles and not just PCs.  In the meantime, snap up those digital goodies and let the New Year roll in with new games to play.
