Oh, what a glorious evening to get another glimpse at Hocus Pocus 2! D23 Expo 2022, Disney’s convention currently running in Anaheim, California, yielded some sinister fruit in the form of the highly anticipated sequel’s official trailer and poster.
Here’s the synopsis for the film per Disney Media:
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”

Featuring the return of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker as Winifred Sanderson, Mary Sanderson and Sarah Sanderson, respectively, Hocus Pocus 2 also boasts Hannah Waddingham, Sam Richardson, Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, Lilia Buckingham, Froy Gutierrez and Tony Hale. But that’s not all! Doug Jones is back as the lovable zombie Billy Butcherson, who makes a delightful appearance in the trailer.
The trailer is camp personified, drawing upon the darkly whimsical elements of its predecessor. While sequels don’t usually fare better than the originals, I’m willing to give this one a shot. As a middle-aged millennial, the ’90s flick means so much to me; frankly, the Sandersons shaped my personality. It’s embarrassing, but it is what it is.
