Get ready for an action-packed autumn! His Dark Materials dropped a fantastical teaser on Friday. The HBO favorite also revealed that Season Two will hit our screens sooner than we think. Here’s a synopsis straight from the official press release:
The second season of His Dark Materials begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

Now, the exact release date for Season Two is still under wraps. However, we’ve got a lovely teaser ripe for enjoyment and subsequent dissection. In said teaser, we see our main protagonists grappling with a burgeoning war between worlds on the horizon. Lyra and the mysterious newcomer Will bond over their troubled pasts. Mythical beings and witches contemplate destruction of the world we as know it. There’s loads of dark imagery and mounting tension between our world and other realms that wish to eradicate it.

His Dark Materials stars Ruth Wilson, Andrew Scott, Amir Wilson, Dafne Keen, Ariyon Bakare, Jade Anouka, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, Terence Stamp, Simone Kirby, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Season Two is slated to premiere in November on HBO and HBO Max.
