A brand new feaurette for Shazam! landed today. In it, we get to meet Shazam, or rather the hero that Billy Batson (Asher Angel) becomes after yelling that name out. The featurette goes into detail about the story and the two main characters were going to be with in the film. It’s all smiles from this production!

We start off by recapping what the film is about. The story will follow Billy Batson who, despite having to move to multiple foster homes, has a pure heart. It is because of that heart that he’s granted to powers of an ancient wizard to do good. His fellow foster brother and friend Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer) is a fan of superheroes. In fact, you could say that he’s one of us. When Billy gains these powers, Freddy knows exactly what to do and the boys go off on adventures to discover his powers and help save people.

Star Zachary Levi mentions that “Shazam is one of very few superhero characters that is geninuely stoked to be a superhero”. At least that’s the way production is approaching this character. Most of the film looks incredibly fun. You can see the smiles on their faces as they’re making this. Actually, there’s not much in any of the promotional material that presents a conflict for the character. It’s been so focused on the positive that it’ll be interesting to see just what exactly the conflict is. Will it be with his new enemy? Or maybe it has to do with finding out who you are, even without super powers? We’ll have to wait and see.

Check out the feaurette below and let us know what you think! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC news. Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg with screenplay by Henry Gayden.
