Season two of the Syfy show Helix is coming our way on Friday, January 16. Last year the season ended in the Arctic and things were just a mess! The CDC tried to stop a plague but conspiracies were revealed, immortal secrets brought to light, people died and monkeys. Frozen monkeys. Yeah, the first season was wacky. The science wasn’t sound, not all plot questions were answered but for some reason we could not look away. Probably because Billy Campbell is the star of the show. Also Ron Moore is EP. And, frozen monkeys.
This season on Helix, the survivors of season one have ended up on a lush island, where it seems a different plague has landed. Or is it connected? I have no idea, I didn’t even know everyone survived season one until I saw this trailer. But I will be watching every Friday night! Mark my words!
Here is what Syfy said about Helix season 2: The second season of Helix finds the doctors of the Centers for Disease Control, still haunted by the Narvik outbreak and the events that took place in Arctic Biosystems, investigating a deadly outbreak of a new disease on a Windjammer cruise ship. Their investigation leads them to a mysterious island inhabited by a cult with the hope of creating a utopian society.
And just so you know, Steven Weber is in season 2 as the utopian society’s leader. Weber will play Brother Michael, the charismatic leader of the cult, a brilliant speaker and sermonizer, and also a first-class geneticist.
I bet he’s a little bit evil. I just have a hunch.
