Today HBO gave us a more in-depth look at their upcoming series of Watchmen. With promises of blurring the lines between heroes and villains, we learn what kind of world the superheroes left behind. The featurette airs a ton of previously unseen footage that promises a lot of excitement.
Intercut with commentary from the cast and crew, we see the rise of a new terrorist organization, called The Seventh Cavalry, that targets law enforcement. Due to attacks, the officers decide to wear masks as well to conceal their identity to avoid further attacks from the terrorists. That doesn’t even include the vigilantes running around. With everyone wearing a mask morality is starting to grey and violence is rising.
It will be interesting to see what they do with this world. We know it’s not quite a sequel or a reboot of Alan Moore‘s comic of the same name. However, there’s so much potential in the world he created. Series showrunner Damon Lindelof will definitely be playing with it. With Regina King saying it’s the biggest show she’s ever worked on, we’re definitely hyped.
