If you have been thinking, ‘Wow, I wish we had some news on House of the Dragon,’ then today is your day. HBO and HBO Max have released the official trailer for the series ahead of their panel at SDCC 2022 this upcoming weekend. The series is based on George R.R. Martin‘s Fire & Blood and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and focuses on the saga of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war.

The trailer for House of the Dragon is giving us downright chills. It starts as a simple question of succession that turns to fire and blood. And in true Martin style, it is filled with questions of who will turn against who and what lies and secrets are hidden within. Nothing is simple in the world of Westeros, and honestly, do we want it to be? And as if the drama and suspense weren’t enough, the dragons in this trailer look amazing. We always thought there were never enough dragons on screen in Game of Thrones, and it looks like House of the Dragon is going to fix that.

The trailer also gives us a look at the massive cast that will bring the story to life. HBO went out of their way to bring us something that looks as good, if not better, than the flagship series. It’s dark, gritty and perfect. House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower, Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon. We will also see Eve Best as princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.

House of the Dragon is set to air on August 21, 2022, on HBO Max and will feature ten episodes. We’ve dropped the trailer below for your enjoyment. Are you excited to return to Westeros? Let us know in the comments below and on social media.
