Wanna get away? You might consider going to Texas. There, outside of Austin, will be an experience like no other. HBO is building an actual Westworld there that will be open during the South by Southwest Festival this year!
You need to know a couple of things about this experience before you go. A recreation of the town of Sweetwater, complete with The Coronado hotel and the Mariposa Saloon, will be built on two acres outside of Austin, Texas. It will be populated with actors (in lieu of nearly human androids) who will be trained as hosts. Those ‘hosts’ will not engage in any sexual activity with you or your friends. Yeah, yeah. We know. They will, however, be equipped with stories and clues to give you the Westworld experience in as many ways as are appropriate! There will be food and drinks and horses and mysteries and puzzle solving!
The experience will start in Austin with a ‘Delos shuttle’ that will take guests to the park, and the choice of a black or white hat. Here’s the teaser video for the experience.
Entertainment Weekly reports that SXSW will also hold a Westworld panel during the festival where co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and cast members Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and James Marsden will talk about the show.
The attraction will be open to ticket holders from March 9th to 11th. Tickets for the “Live without limits” Westworld experience have already gone fast. More will be made available during the festival, so stay sharp. Check the official Westworld Twitter feed for updates and grab your hat, Cowboy!
