Lord & Miller‘s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is coming this December, and the release today of the new trailer will have you wishing Christmas was in July.
The artwork in the film is gorgeous, and the medium allows for the introduction of characters and plot-points that fans can enjoy without worrying about how things wrap into the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans who’ve been waiting for the introduction of Miles Morales, a black Spider-Man, and Gwen Stacy’s “Spider Gwen” will be served by seeing them on screen here, hopefully leading to seeing them again in other films and iterations.
Sony says: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
