HARLEY QUINN Snags Season 4 Renewal and New Showrunner

Harley and Ivy clasp hands while aboard the Invisible Jet on Harley Quinn Season 3 Episode 5 "It's a Swamp Thing."

They’re coming back for more! Harlivy will reign for another season on Harley Quinn. As reported by Deadline, the DC adult animated comedy received a fourth season renewal courtesy of HBO Max. But that’s not all — the series has a new showrunner in Sarah Peters, who’s written for Harley Quinn since Season 1 and now serves as a consulting producer. Peters will assume the showrunning mantle from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. The pair initially developed the fan-favorite series alongside Dean Lorey

This news comes hot on the heels of a tsunami of cancellations from Warner Bros. Discovery, sparking fan outrage and furor. Despite entering post-production, the highly anticipated Batgirl live-action flick with Leslie Grace in the title role received the ax earlier this month. In addition, Batman: Caped Crusader will no longer soar on the streaming platform.

So, naturally, fans of Harley Quinn can now breathe a long-held sigh of relief. At the very least, we might get an ending should Warner Bros. Discovery decide not to move forward with a fifth season. That said, I want approximately 100 more seasons. Make it happen, WBD!

Harley Quinn has three episodes left, with the season bowing out on September 15, 2022. So far, we have Harlivy living in domestic bliss. Ivy (Lake Bell) hopes to terraform Gotham, morphing it into a tropical paradise.

However, Frank the Plant’s (J.B. Smoove) kidnapping by Bruce Wayne (Diedrich Bader) thwarts her plans. Harley (Kaley Cuoco) befriends Batgirl (Briana Cuoco). At the same time, Clayface (Alan Tudyk) snags the role of a lifetime, and King Shark (Ron Funches) returns home for a not-so-fun family event. The series also features Christopher Meloni, Sanaa Lathan, James Adomian, Harvey Guillén and Andy Daly

Here’s what Halpern and Schumacker had to say regarding the show’s Season 4 greenlight:

“We are ecstatic that HBO Max wants the story of Harley and Ivy to continue. And we are equally thrilled that this next season will be in great hands with Sarah Peters as our showrunner and Ceci Aranovich overseeing animation production, as they have both greatly influenced the show with their brilliance since the beginning.”

Harley Quinn drops new episodes every Thursday on HBO Max. What are your theories for the rest of Season 3? Sound off in the comments below!
