DISCLAIMER: This recap of the Harley Quinn episode “A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy” has spoilers. Prepare for an unorthodox meeting with the Court of Owls, and proceed at your peril.
Welcome back, queenpins of crime! This week’s episode of Harley Quinn is all about a thief, a mole and, you guessed it, an orgy (in that order). It’s a slower outing plot-wise, with considerably less gory action than most episodes. That said, it’s Harlivy-heavy, and I think we can all agree that any focus on Harlivy is sure to be enthralling. Plus, the Court of Owls orgy undoubtedly speaks for itself.

Workin’ Hard
We open with Ivy (Lake Bell) explaining to Harley (Kaley Cuoco) that she needs more time to terraform Gotham. So far, Frank the Plant’s (J.B. Smoove) reach only extends to a small section of the city. Ivy plans to spend all day in her makeshift lab space in Catwoman’s pad, getting Frank to pollinate an entire metropolis. FtP levitates while sitting cross-legged because, well, he can do that now.
Clayface (Alan Tudyk) and King Shark (Ron Funches) eagerly tell the gang about installing Sy Borgman (Jason Alexander) onto a pad since Catwoman has smart home tech. The late Sy appears onscreen, serving as a “Siri” of sorts. Harley, King Shark and Clayface ask him questions. Why use Google when you have a Sy? Ivy politely kicks the crew out so she can focus.

Then, the ousted trio starts an alien death metal band. Naturally, Harley plays guitar and provides vocals, while Clayface is all about that bass and King Shark rocks out on the drums. A rotating drum kit, no less. Unfortunately, Ivy informs the newly formed band that Catwoman doesn’t like folks tampering with her stolen goods. Oh, darn! Frank the Plant chastises Ivy for not being upfront with Harley regarding her noisiness. Yeah, Ives lied about Catwoman texting her.

Crushed in the Polls
Meanwhile, Two-Face (Andy Daly) shows Gordon (Christopher Meloni) and Barbara (Briana Cuoco) a campaign video featuring the mayor, who’s now in a coma after getting impaled by a pole. According to Two-Face, the mayor is crushing Gordon in the mayoral race (One might say the polls. Get it?). Quite a few Gotham residents feel Gordon should be the one in the coma. Barbara encourages her father to be himself, while Gordon believes he should go with Two-Face’s plan — beg for money from rich people.
After having a blast on Catwoman’s swanky, high-tech toilet (that probably boasts a bangin’ bidet), Ivy informs Harley about another purported “text” she received from Catwoman. Don’t mess with the fancy toilet! Ivy claims Catwoman knows about Harley messing with her belongings because of the overabundance of security cameras in the apartment.
So, armed with her bat, Harley smashes each camera. Later, Ivy cracks the code on her terraforming dilemma, claiming she induced a fugue state in Frank to get him to pollinate. Thus, she takes the gang out to eat to celebrate. However, when they return, they notice Frank is missing. Someone absconded with the pollinating plant!

Ivy asks Sy if he saw anyone kidnap Frank while they were gone. Sy tries to check the security cameras, but he tells Ivy the kidnapper conveniently smashed them. King Shark finds a golden pin on the scene, and Harley recognizes it instantly.

#1 Dad!
Then, Harley and Ivy seek out the Joker (also Tudyk), who’s supervising his son during a frustrating homework session. He even has a “#1 Dad” mug! Harley tells Joker the pin they found at the scene of the crime looks identical to the one he had. Joker informs our lovebirds that members of the Court of Owls have these pins. They usually meet on Wednesday nights. What was once a formidable organized crime group is now a secret society of “old straight white dudes.” Well, according to Mista J.
Later, Harlivy attends a meeting of the Court of Owls. They don the extra owl masks Joker had on hand at his house, along with the password: “hoot hoot.” That’s like having your password as “password.” After attending the opening ceremony wherein the group sacrifices a piñata goat, we see Gordon and Two-Face arrive on the scene. Two-Face encourages Gordon to squeeze money out of Gotham’s elite for his campaign. Gordon gives away his identity to Bruce Wayne (Diedrich Bader), who’s there with his lady love, Catwoman (Sanaa Lathan).

Harley finds Bane (James Adomian) among the attendees. He discloses his mental health journey and how he’s in therapy because Harley and Ivy won’t return his pasta maker. I support Bane’s decision to try on therapy for size. Is it about a pasta maker, though? Really?
Revealing Information
Then, Harley chats with Catwoman, who reveals she never sent Ivy texts about not touching her belongings. Meanwhile, Ivy receives an update from Sy regarding the broken security cameras. Oh, and the thief utilized Catwoman’s toilet, so Sy snapped a shot of said thief’s ass, which sports a sizeable mole.

Harley and Ivy confront each other. Ivy is furious that Harley purposely smashed the cameras, while Harley is angry with Ivy for lying to her about Catwoman. That’s when Ivy lets slip that she and Catwoman had a fling years ago. Uh-oh.

ORGY!
Suddenly, the atmosphere changes palpably. The Court of Owls members disrobe while the lights dim. KGBeast arms himself with a dildo. There are a lot of bars blurring private parts. It’s orgy time!
Ivy shows Harley the pic of the thief’s ass mole. She believes they should fan out and search all the bare bums for the culprit. Unfortunately, Ivy digs herself into a deeper grave by revealing she didn’t tell Harley about her relationship with Catwoman because of Harley’s expected reaction. Harley storms off.
Gordon loses his phone amid the orgasmic melee. He trips, watching in anguish while orgy participants inadvertently kick his phone around the space.

Meanwhile, Ivy divulges the real reason she didn’t inform Ivy about Catwoman. Ivy fell in love with Catwoman at the time, but the latter didn’t feel the same way. Ivy was embarrassed and fearful of that happening again. Thankfully, Ivy’s feelings are reciprocated by Harley. They love each other, y’all! There are many tears and tender kisses. Harlivy is stronger than ever, folks.

Orgy No-No
Amid a passionate smooch, Harley and Ivy accidentally flip the lights on, which is an orgy no-no. As the attendees file out, Two-Face scolds Gordon for not persuading any rich people to make generous donations to his campaign. However, Gordon wins Two-Face’s favor by inadvertently recording video footage of the orgy, which highlights the power players of Gotham. Time for some blackmail!
Next, Harley and Ivy continue their search for Frank the Plant. We see Frank strapped to a bed in someone’s lab. We don’t see the thief, but methinks we’ll catch a glimpse on next week’s episode!

The Frank the Plant kidnapping plot is intriguing enough, especially given that cliffhanger. I think the orgy stuff is hilarious because let’s face it; you seldom see explicit content like that in live-action let alone animation. The domesticated Joker bits are fun too, and I’d love to see more of him navigating fatherhood (to hysterical results).
“A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy” gives Harlivy a playground for exploration, and I’m not referring to the orgy. Although, if you think about it, while the Court of Owls members bared their bodies, Harlivy bore their souls. That’s poetry, baby!
Who do you think kidnapped Frank? Will Gordon play dirty to win the mayoral race? When can we expect the first single from our new fave alien death metal act? Join me next time while I recap Harley Quinn, only on Geek Girl Authority.

Actually it’s KGBeast that replaces his arm with a dildo in the orgy, not Bane.
Ah, good eye! Those scenes were so dark that I knew I missed some things. Thank you!
