Yesterday, four stunning Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) posters were released to start the hype train in anticipation for today’s release of the film’s first official trailer. Warner Bros put the trailer out today and boy was all the hype justified.

Before we go any further, let me just say that Margot Robbie’s  Harley Quinn may be the best character on screen that I’ve seen all year. She absolutely rocks it. She smart, she’s chaotic, she’s charismatic and she has a plan – and we’re here for it.

Set to the mesmerizing vocals of Edith Piaf, the Birds of Prey trailer shows Harley Quinn nursing a bit of a broken heart as she states that she has split with The Joker. Although she’s throwing knives at a picture of her ex, she’s done having a “master”. She wants a fresh start and realizes she’s not the only woman in Gotham looking for “Emancipation”.

She gets her girl gang together, much to their surprise, to go up against the big bad, Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). There’s a lot of fantastic, colorful and loud action in the trailer. Did I mention that Margot Robbie looks like a badass? I mean she’s “Harley Freakin’ Quinn!”
