Cheers to 51 years of Doctor Who!

From William Hartnell To Peter Capaldi, it’s been quite a journey. Fighting Daleks and Cybermen, traveling the universe with a slew of companions, and a dozen or so regenerations.

For a brief history of The Time Lord check out The BBC’s breakdown.

Here are my Top 3 Doctor’s:

1. Tom Baker/The Fourth Doctor – Funny, sad, a bit crazy, whimsical, dark, warm. He is my favorite. He is also the Doctor I always suggest starting with if you’re wanting to enter the Whovian fold. Check out The Deadly Assassin, The Ark In Space, Pyramids Of Mars.

2. David Tennant/The Tenth Doctor – I love David Tennant’s Doctor because he was so exuberant! Funny, witty, rooted in sadness.  A loneliness that for whatever reason (that’s a whole other blog) that resonates with me. My favorite episodes are The Doctors Daughter, Blink, The Runaway Bride, Silence In The Library/Forrest of The Dead.

3. Peter Capaldi/The Twelfth Doctor – He’s older, he doesn’t connect with most things/people, He can barely stand to hug his companion. He’s trying to figure himself out, is he good or bad? Am I good or bad…again a whole other blog. His sarcastic sense of humor and bluntness are incredibly appealing to me…and the loneliness. Best episodes this season are Time Heist, Listen, Flatline.

My runner’s up for the best Doctor Who, in no particular order are Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, and Christopher Eccleston.
