He’s still seeing dead people.
What We Do in the Shadows‘ second season is set to debut this spring with a few surprises up their Victorian sleeves. Today, thanks to EW, we learned that there will be yet another special guest appearance on the show. A fan of the series and film, Haley Joel Osment, will be joining the vampires for more of their hilarious adventures. Best known for his role in Sixth Sense, the young actor will be playing a new familiar named Topher, picked up by Nadja (Natalie Demetriou) and Laszlo (Matt Berry).
According to series creator Jemaine Clement, Osment was keen to join the series. However it was his audition that really blew them away. “We had no idea how funny he is. He only appears in one episode but it’s a huge character change. He gets to play on the other more scarier side.”
Osment himself continues giving insight into this character, hinting at some rivalry between the two familiars of the house. “Topher is instantly a hit with everyone, except Guillermo. He’s a threat to his position in the house. The vampires don’t treat Guillermo well, and here comes Topher with so many qualities they admire. This creates a lot of tension.”
While it’s unfortunate that he’s only in one episode, they seem to be hyping up this appearance quite a bit. It would be interesting to see if Topher is the kick in the butt Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) needs to bring out his true potential. Could he finally leave the vampires or just get the respect he deserves? Unfortunately we have to wait and see.
