Remember that rumor from a couple weeks ago that claimed Fox was going to age up their version of the soon-to-be eco-terrorist, Poison Ivy, on their hit series, Gotham? Well this morning we’ve learned that rumor is absolutely true as Fox has announced 28-year old actress, Maggie Geha of All My Children fame, has taken on the role!

But how exactly does it happen that a young girl like actress Clare Foley, who has previously performed the role of Ivy Pepper and is 14 years old, could suddenly grow up so fast?

Well, first of all, though Maggie herself is 28, she’s playing a 19 year old, so Ivy Pepper has only aged about 5-6 years.

So how exactly does it happen that she ages so dramatically so quickly? TVLine, who broke the story, explained it, saying, “Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy.” They go on to add that she is now “a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).”

So there you have it! Either some monster has the power to age characters up, or they kill Ivy and all of her work with plants somehow resurrects her as a grown woman.

Gotham will return in September when we’re certain all questions will be answered.
