It looks like we’ve added another name to the cast of Fox’s hit DC Comics series, Gotham, which tells the story of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. That name is James Carpinello, known for his roles in The Good Wife and Person of Interest.

According to TV Line, who broke the story, Carpinello will play the role of “mob progeny Mario Falcone,” who is the son “of feared mob boss Carmine Falcone.” Remember Carmine Falcone, played by John Doman?

It’s this guy.

When we meet him in the series, “Carpinello’s Mario has rejected his family’s criminal ways and made a legitimate life for himself as a well-respected, Ivy League-educated ER doctor.” This rejection of the family business has made Falcone “the black sheep of the Falcone clan.”

So he’s a doctor with family ties to the mafia in his background. Sounds like he won’t be much of a threat — except for one tiny thing, “his arrival in Gotham will create major waves in the personal life of Jim Gordon, who at the end of Season 2 left town to find and win back his pregnant fiancee Lee.”

Yes, apparently there will be a bit of a love triangle for Detective Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). It’s unclear where Dr. Thompkins fits into this, if she’s already in love with Falcone or if she’s simply the object of the mobster son’s desire, but he’s certain to cause some trouble for Detective Gordon, who just wants to get his finance back.
