GOTHAM Adds More Episodes to Final Season

Gotham fans, we’re getting more episodes! The fifth and final season has been ramping up everything – more villains, more surprises, the works. But many wondered how they were going to wrap up the show in only 10 episodes. It appears the producers and Fox realized the monstrous task as well and expanded the final season.

Star David Mazouz recently sat down with comicbook.com when he told them the good news. The fifth season will be 12 episodes instead of 10. Two more episodes doesn’t seem like much, but it could be the extra time they need. It’s certainly not the over 20 episodes the show is used to playing around in. But, given the condescend time, it could be their strongest arc yet. It could also be their most disastrous, given the introduction to Bane and potentially Harley Quinn as well.

Mazouz is on the former side of the argument, saying “…it does ramp up, because you know we kind of fit the meat of 22 episodes into 10 and so you’ll see the episodes are crazy action-packed.” Though he lamented having to speed things up, not giving much room for quiet talking scenes between himself and Sean Pertwee. But it’s all worth it in the end, according to Mazouz who said “I think it will be exhilarating as a viewer to watch. I can’t put any of the scripts down.” That’s a pretty big compliment.

With the show coming to an end, they’ll need to wrap up many character’s stories. It’s an enormous task – will they do a good job? We’ll have to wait and see. Gotham begins it’s final season on January 3rd, 2019.
