Good Omens Bids Goodbye
We won’t have much time to bid farewell to our favorite angel and demon, Aziraphale and Crowley.
While Prime Video greenlit a third and final season of the popular fantasy series Good Omens in December 2023, we learned that it’ll be significantly truncated compared to its predecessors. Instead of the traditional six-episode season, we’re getting one 90-minute episode to wrap up the narrative. Essentially, it’s a TV movie.
The decision to cut episodes comes in the wake of the bevy of sexual assault allegations against Neil Gaiman, who has exited the series. Gaiman co-wrote the titular Good Omens book (1990) with the late Terry Pratchett. For the first two seasons of the Prime Video series, Gaiman served as the showrunner, executive producer and writer.

Deadline reports that Gaiman contributed to writing the 90-minute series finale. However, a new writer will finish the script. Furthermore, Gaiman won’t work on the production.
Where Season 2 Left Off
If you recall, the Season 2 finale, which aired on July 28, 2023, sees Crowley (David Tennant) kiss Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and confess his love for him. Aziraphale has accepted a high-up position in Heaven, so Crowley desperately tries to persuade the angel to remain on Earth with him. The episode’s final moments show Crowley as he drives away in pain while Aziraphale ascends to Heaven to start his new job. Ugh, my heart.

The Cast
Good Omens stars David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Richardson, Jon Hamm, Nina Sosanya, Doon Mackichan, Gloria Obianyo and Frances McDormand.
I’m not a huge fan of getting a TV movie sendoff in lieu of a full season. I hope the writing team can tie all the loose ends in a way that makes sense and doesn’t feel rushed. That said, I’m excited to reunite with these characters—hopefully sooner rather than later.
The Good Omens 90-minute series finale will begin production in Scotland in early 2025. In the meantime, you can watch Season 1 and Season 2 on Prime Video.
