Just when you thought Good Omens couldn’t add any more star power, it continues to shine! According to a report in Variety, actor Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to the show as the prince of darkness himself – Satan. He really can play any role, can’t he?
Creator (with Terry Pratchett), showrunner and executive producer Neil Gaiman confirmed the news during a press junket for the series. Before you start picturing the British thespian in some horns, we have some news. Satan will actually be a “giant, animated” character. About 400 feet tall, to be exact. So it’s voice work again! It’s not made clear whether he did motion capture for the role but it’s unlikely. For those of you who just want to watch his episode, he’ll be appear in episode 6.
It was previously reported that Frances McDormand would be the voice of God. With that being said, this is turning out to be one crazy show! The casting is phenomenal, even these smaller roles are getting some of the heavy hitters. Seeing the show is going to be so surreal and we’re going to be looking forward to it!
What do you think of Benedict voicing Satan? Are you excited? Let us know! Be sure to check out the opening sequence below and come back to Geek Girl Authority for more TV news. Good Omens stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen. Other noteable cast members include Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson, Jon Hamm, Derek Jacobi, Mark Gatiss, and Nick Offerman. The end is nigh on May 31st, 2019.
